Guitar World magazine!!

Featured

I don’t care how many times it happens – I’m always delighted when one of my images is published. However today it’s sort of extra special because it’s a dear friend of mine and it’s Guitar World magazine!!! Brian Koenig is an amazing musician and teacher based here in Madison Wisconsin. When he’s not shredding faces on stage with Lords Of The Trident – he’s helping his students learn to play music. Brian is an amazing teacher. How do I know? He’s given me a lesson. It was an amazing experience that I can’t wait to have again soon!!

Check out his column here: http://www.guitarworld.com/lessons-metal/bridging-chasm-between-scales-and-arpeggios/29977

Then go to his band site:  http://www.lordsofthetrident.com/

And then check out the video we made because it’s pretty awesome:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REA2plhb434

Why do I need to update my professional business portrait?

Do you want to begin every new business relationship with a lie?

This sounds a bit over dramatic but it’s true.  We have become a nation/world of highly visual people.  Potential customers are using the internet to seek out professionals and companies for all of their needs.  When they find you is the image you are using really who you are or who you were 10 years ago?  When they walk into your business to meet you for the first time will they recognize you?  If they don’t – what do you think that says to your new client?

Business portraits need to be updated every two years – minimum.

Call us today so we can help you put your best face forward!

New job?  Recently promoted?

When was the last time you updated your professional portrait?  If it’s been more than two years you need to have a new one taken.  Seriously.  Styles change quickly – do you really want potential clients to think you’re not up with the latest trends?  I know that sounds a bit ridiculous but most people want to know that the professional they choose for any service is current and relevant in their industry.  People are visual.  If you look outdated – then maybe you aren’t that innovative person they are looking to hire.

In studio or on site – we want to help you and your business be successful!

Do I need a professional business portrait?

Featured

YES.

I have a confession to make.  Every now and then I spend some time on LinkedIn making connections with local business people.  I think there’s no surprise in that I have worked with quite a few of the people I’ve received invitations from.  However, (here comes the confession) – most of the people I send invitations to are those that need some help with their profile photos.  I do try to take a closer look at these individuals and for the most part – they are totally on top of their game professionally.  Which is why it always surprises me that they would use a vacation snapshot as their professional image.

As I roamed around LinkedIn today I came across this article.  I’m sharing it with all of you because I think it contains some really important information about business and the power of the internet and using social media sites like LinkedIn.

I’m also going to include this link – just in case you want to get a little more information about how I can help you put your most professional face forward.

Don’t confuse other social media with LinkedIn by making the mistake of using a picture from your vacation, wedding or family Christmas card. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and if someone looks at your picture and the first thoughts are “What the heck were they thinking?” you have lost the battle. With today’s technology there is no reason why you can’t have a good, professional picture of yourself posted… and “selfies” don’t count as professional.

Thoughts for brides, grooms, & guests on the big day

Wedding season is upon us here in Madison and Milwaukee WI.  Brides and grooms and ALL wedding guests – please take a moment to read the post from the link above. You can’t imagine how many times this happens and how upsetting it is to present the couple with less than fabulous wedding photographs. I understand that the day is filled with “Kodak moments” that we all want to catch.  BUT – please just be in that moment and enjoy the day.  The happy couple chose to hire professional photographers for a reason.  They asked you to share the day as a guest for a reason.  And what’s more special than being able to share the wedding day of two people you love?  Let’s give social media a rest and enjoy the day!!

Making senior portraits more than …

Featured

… average.

Shouldn’t graduation portraits be more than just a nice smile or a new outfit?  I think so.  Typically the senior portrait sessions here in the studio start out with what I call “The Grandma Wall” poses.  You know the ones – the ladies are gently resting a cheek on their ever so delicately folded hands and the gentlemen are looking very serious as they rest their chins on a rugged fist.  Thank goodness today’s Grandmas are way cooler and want to see something more exciting!

I encourage  all the young adults that come to me for their senior portraits to bring in items that really help to tell their story.  I want their proof booklets and finished portraits to unquestionably show who they are at this time in their lives.  It is my hope that they will someday look back at these photographs and remember that they were the bees knees.  (Translation: awesome, cool, hip, swagger, Gucci, fizzy)
