“What’s your favorite type of photograph to take?”
I get asked this question a lot. Truth be told – I like everything. I love the once in a lifetime energy of wedding photography. Here are two people in love, surrounded by their families and friends, celebrating one of the biggest moments of their lives. Happy – Happy – Happy!! Then there are the kids and babies and pets. I love the spontaneity of these sessions. I love that they never worry about things like double chins when they give me a big smile. They just have fun!
What I love about photographing high school seniors is that they fall somewhere in between kids and weddings. I love that they have something to say and are willing to try new things. Senior Portraits are a way of presenting themselves to the world as a young adult. I love being a part of that. And while I’m being honest, they can hold a pose and I don’t have to sing “The Wheels On The Bus” … that often.
Here are some faces that have received a diploma and flipped a tassel over the past 15 years. I can’t wait to meet the Class of 2018!

Why do I need to update my professional business portrait?
Do you want to begin every new business relationship with a lie?
This sounds a bit over dramatic but it’s true. We have become a nation/world of highly visual people. Potential customers are using the internet to seek out professionals and companies for all of their needs. When they find you is the image you are using really who you are or who you were 10 years ago? When they walk into your business to meet you for the first time will they recognize you? If they don’t – what do you think that says to your new client?
Business portraits need to be updated every two years – minimum.

When I look around I see art everywhere – at the grocery store, in a lock on a door or a broken window. Art is there and waiting for us to discover it and share it.
I typically start my new art projects at the beginning of each year but honestly, I was a bit uninspired this year. Thanks to the polar vortex, trying to keep warm was my main priority. Even though I’m still a bit chilled, an idea popped into my head as I was making coffee this morning. I was looking down into my glass as I poured coffee over the ice and I saw art. The ice melted into odd shapes and the light hit the edges causing this golden halo that was nothing short of beautiful. Yes, yes – I think coffee is the most beautiful thing on the planet but there was more to it today.
So here’s the project. Bring me an ordinary, everyday object. Something that is not already art. Bigger than a grape but small enough to carry easily. I will take some photos and create some art. All the original photos and the art will be shared here. If you like anything you see – let me know and we’ll see about getting you a print.
