Sweeney Photography now in Northern California!!!

It’s official!!

Sweeney Photography is now based in Santa Rosa California!!

 

It’s been a dream of mine to relocate to California for about 10 years now. Finally – the dream is reality! I’m super excited to get to meet and work with all of the wonderful people that live and work in Northern California. For now all of the sessions will need to be on location at your business or home or some fabulous spot that can only be found in our area. I’m looking into getting a studio soon but I’ve only been here for a week so please bear with me on that bit. Certain pages of the site have not been updated with my new location but it should be good to go soon. If you have any questions please give me a call!!

Here’s a snap shot from my very first day here in the Santa Rosa area. Crazy awesome hike, the ocean, and bouldering. Yes!! Bouldering!! Already found my favourite yoga teacher and can’t wait to try all the vegan food I can eat. Speaking of tasty vegan food – I’m off to enjoy some tonight!!!

Voted Best Photographer in Madison WI

Less than a handful of months have passed since Madison Magazine announced the Best Of Madison Winners.  And it’s been about that long since I’ve been able to share any of the fabulous things we’ve been doing.  Being voted the Best Photographer in Madison has definitely made us the busiest of studios!  Thank you Madison!

Soon I will be sharing some of the highlights from the summer months and fill you all in on what’s coming.  Great people – great projects – and maybe something completely unexpected and fun.  Bear with me for another week or so while I tidy things up.

And the winner is …

I want to start by sharing a story.  Not too long ago I was sifting through my mail and came upon an envelope from a local publication – Madison Magazine.  I opened it and then my jaw hit the desk.  “Madison Magazine wishes to congratulate Sweeney Photography as the Gold Winner in the BEST Photographer category for 2013!”  (Okay, just typing that got me a bit choked up.)  My first thought was – wow that’s so wonderful!!!  Followed by – I wonder who the big winner is?  I quickly went to their website and realized that the big winner was indeed me.  A smile formed, a tear fell and a silent WOOHOO rang out. Why silent?  I had to keep this fabulous and truly unexpected news to myself until today.

Today I finally get to share it and say THANK YOU Madison Magazine!  THANK YOU Madison Magazine Readers and Voters!  THANK YOU Family and Friends for your support the past 11 years!  And above all – THANK YOU to the Brides and High School Seniors and Families and Babies and Professionals that have allowed me to share their special moments, days and events!

Kids and Families in Madison WI

Monday is:  share kids and family portraits day.

I really enjoyed spending a couple of hours with this cool little family unit.  It was a very laid back, go with the flow kind of session – as you can see by the photos.  This was one of those “ah ha” moments (as a photographer) that helped me see family portraits should be less about “posing” and more about laughing.  I realize that in a few areas there is some blurriness due to motion but I accept that.  These photos tell me the story of this family – the fun, the spontaneity and the love.
